FAQs
Will you change my voice?
No. My goal is to preserve and amplify your voice—not change it. Every edit is made with your style and intent in mind, so your book still feels authentically yours, only clearer and more polished.
Is professional editing really worth the cost?
Yes. A well-edited book saves you time, prevents costly reprints, and helps you publish with confidence. Many clients tell me my thorough edits also save them an extra round of proofreading.
What if my budget is tight?
In that case, I’d recommend investing in the highest level of editing that you can afford—perhaps a manuscript evaluation. Trying to save money by investing only in proofreading, for example, can backfire. After all, if your book has serious structural issues or is confusing, readers won’t care that the grammar and punctuation are correct.
What if I’ve had a bad experience with an editor before?
Unfortunately, this can happen, which is why I prioritize communication. You’ll get clear updates, the chance to ask unlimited questions, and tracked changes so you’re always in control of your book.
What types of books do you edit?
I specialize in Christian fiction, memoirs, and self-help books, but I also work with Bible studies, devotionals, and other faith-based nonfiction.
Do you ever edit secular books?
Yes, I edit secular fiction and nonfiction as well, provided that it is free from explicit content and does not advocate an anti-Christian worldview.
Can you work with first-time authors?
Yes. In fact, I’ve helped dozens of first-time authors successfully navigate the self-publishing process.
How long does editing take?
Turnaround time depends on the length of your book and the level of editing needed. I’ll give you a realistic timeline before we start, and I offer fast-turnaround options when deadlines are tight.
How much will it cost?
Pricing depends on the length of your book and the type of editing. I’ll give you a clear quote before we begin, and payment plans are available.
Will you tell me if my book isn't ready to publish?
Yes. My feedback is honest but encouraging. If your book needs more work before publication, I’ll guide you on what to improve so you feel confident moving forward.
How do I send you my book?
Most authors send their files as Microsoft Word documents via email or file-sharing services. I’ll give you clear instructions so the process is simple.
How do you keep my content confidential?
I treat every project with complete confidentiality. Your work will never be shared or discussed outside our editing relationship. I do not use generative AI tools for any client work.
What if I don't like one of your edits?
You have complete control. The edits are made with tracked changes so you can accept or reject each one.
How do I get started?
You can schedule a free Zoom call or email me your book details. We’ll talk about your goals, your timeline, and the best editing plan for your project.
How do I know you're qualified?
I have a master’s degree in history, am a member of Christian Editor Connection, and freelance for both Penguin Random House and Baker Revell. I’ve edited or proofread more than 100 books.
Do you offer any other resources for Christian authors?
Yes! I’ve written a free guide called “From Draft to Done: Your Step-by-Step Road Map to Self-Publishing with Confidence,” which provides curated recommendations for writing, publishing, and marketing resources that align with your faith and your goals. You can download it here: From Draft to Done
